Gaming is Mainstream

Game playing is a surprisingly mainstream activity. The average game player is 33 and 47% are female (more if you’re playing on Facebook or smartphones).Bond University and IGEA have produced a handy infographic summarising who plays video games in New Zealand and Australia, based on their Digital NZ 2012 study. In addition to those that play games regularly, most people know how to play games – meaning they can easily use them for training or as part of a marketing campaign.

While the infographic shows the average for Australian and New Zealand combined, the Digital NZ results are also available. The results in New Zealand align well with similar studies in the USA and Europe.
